The International University of East Africa (IUEA), a leading private university in Uganda committed to academic excellence and innovation, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Security Manager.

Job Purpose

The Security Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security policies, procedures, and operations to ensure the safety of the university community, property, and assets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement institutional security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of security personnel and contracted security providers.
  3. Monitor and control access to the university premises.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and recommend measures to mitigate security threats.
  5. Oversee installation and monitoring of security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access control systems.
  6. Investigate security incidents and prepare reports with recommendations.
  7. Liaise with law enforcement and relevant government security agencies when necessary.
  8. Ensure compliance with safety, emergency response, and evacuation procedures.
  9. Train and sensitize staff and students on safety and security protocols.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Qualifications in Security Studies, Criminology, Security Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in security management, preferably in a university, corporate, or institutional environment.
  3. Prior experience in supervising security teams and managing security operations.
  4. Training in risk management, emergency response, or security systems is an added advantage.
  5. Military or police background may be an added advantage.

  4. Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  5. Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and crises
